2-Day Desert Adventure from Marrakech to Zagora
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Draa Valley – Zagora
Your journey begins at 8:00 AM as we leave the bustling streets of Marrakech behind and head south through the majestic High Atlas Mountains. We’ll climb the winding roads of the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), pausing to soak in breathtaking views and snap photos of the traditional Berber villages nestled in the hillsides.
Our first major stop is the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. You’ll have time to explore its maze of mud-brick houses and imagine the stories filmed here, from Gladiator to Game of Thrones.
Continuing through the dramatic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, we arrive in Agdz, a charming Berber town and gateway to the Draa Valley, known for its endless palm groves and ancient kasbahs. As we follow the valley south, the landscape begins to shift—the greenery gives way to the vast silence of the Sahara.
By late afternoon, we arrive in Zagora, where you’ll meet your camel for a peaceful ride into the desert. As the sun sets over the dunes, the sky turns shades of orange and gold—an experience you’ll carry with you forever.
We end the day at a cozy Berber desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars and spend the night in a comfortable nomadic-style tent.
Day 2: Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Rise early to witness the calm magic of sunrise over the desert—a quiet, golden moment you’ll never forget. After breakfast, you’ll return to Zagora by camel, where our vehicle awaits to take you back north.
The return journey follows the Draa Valley once again, giving you one more look at its oasis beauty before we continue toward Ouarzazate, often called “the Hollywood of Morocco.” Here, you’ll visit the historic Kasbah Taourirt, once a royal residence and now a symbol of the region’s architectural splendor.
After a relaxing lunch in town or on the road, we cross the High Atlas once more, arriving back in Marrakech by early evening—your head and heart full of desert memories.
