5-Day Adventure from Tangier to Marrakech

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Your journey begins in Tangier, the gateway to North Africa. From here, travel south to the enchanting Chefchaouen, known for its sky-blue alleyways and relaxed mountain charm.

After exploring its peaceful streets, continue through northern Morocco’s rich historical belt.

Stop at the sacred town of Moulay Idriss, then visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, where stunning mosaics and crumbling columns speak of a distant empire.

Enjoy lunch in Meknes, a former imperial city filled with grand gates and palaces. Arrive in Fes by evening and settle into a traditional riad. Dinner is served in the heart of the old medina.

Day 2: Discovering Fes

Dive into the fascinating heritage of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and intellectual capital. Begin with a guided exploration of Fes El Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with narrow lanes, bustling souks, and historic mosques.

Visit landmarks like the Royal Palace, Jewish Quarter (Mellah), Bou Inania Madrasa, and traditional craft workshops where artisans continue centuries-old practices.

In the evening, explore the Ville Nouvelle, the French-built district, and enjoy a relaxed coffee at a boulevard café. Return to your riad for a restful night.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, journey south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture, and visit Azrou, known for its cedar forests and Berber artisan markets.

Pause for lunch in Midelt, a town nestled between mountain ranges, then continue past desert oases and palm groves as you travel through Erfoud and Rissani.

Arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Spend the night in a peaceful desert riad or hotel and enjoy a traditional dinner beneath the stars.

Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Rise early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Sahara, an unforgettable desert moment.

After breakfast, head west toward the dramatic Todra Gorges, where soaring canyon walls create an awe-inspiring natural corridor. Stretch your legs with a short walk before continuing to the lush Dades Valley.

This region, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” offers a blend of dramatic rock formations and peaceful landscapes. Enjoy a home-cooked dinner and overnight in a local guesthouse or kasbah.

Day 5: Dades – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Your final day takes you along the Road of the Kasbahs, with visits to two of Morocco’s architectural gems. First, stop at Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, then continue to the world-renowned Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village of earthen clay structures that has starred in numerous films.

Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, taking in panoramic views as you descend toward Marrakech, where your tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation.
