7-Day Sahara Adventure from Tangier

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Begin your Moroccan adventure in Tangier, a city where Europe meets Africa. Travel south to the stunning Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains and famed for its peaceful blue-washed streets.

After exploring this tranquil town, continue your journey with a stop at Moulay Idriss, Morocco’s holiest city, and the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Pause for lunch in Meknes, often dubbed the “Versailles of Morocco,” then arrive in Fes in the evening. Settle into a charming riad and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Day 2: Exploring Fes – Imperial Majesty

Spend the day discovering the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Explore Fes El Bali, one of the world’s oldest and most authentic medinas, filled with centuries-old souks, madrasas, and artisan workshops.

Visit the Royal Palace, the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and admire Andalusian-style architecture that reflects Fes’s diverse heritage.

As evening falls, take a stroll through the Ville Nouvelle, the modern district of Fes, before returning to your riad for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga

Depart Fes and journey into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, a resort town known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine homes and clean streets. Visit Azrou, famous for its cedar forests and local handicrafts.

After lunch in Midelt, travel south through desert landscapes, passing through Erfoud and Rissani, ancient towns once bustling with caravan trade.

Arrive in Merzouga, on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Spend the night in a desert hotel or riad and enjoy a serene evening with a traditional Berber dinner under the stars.

Day 4: Sahara Desert Experience

Wake early for an unforgettable sunrise over the golden dunes of the Sahara. After breakfast, embark on a guided camel trek through the sweeping sands of Erg Chebbi.

Stop for a traditional nomadic lunch, and take in the peace and silence of the desert. Return to your hotel in the afternoon for a relaxing hammam (Moroccan spa) and dinner in the calm of the desert night.

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Leave the Sahara behind as you travel along ancient trade routes toward the Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most dramatic natural wonders. Marvel at the towering limestone cliffs and enjoy a short walk through the canyon.

Continue west to the lush Dades Valley, a region known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, for its dramatic red rock formations and scenic river oasis.

Enjoy dinner and overnight in a family-run guesthouse overlooking the valley.

Day 6: Dades – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, head toward Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” and explore the Taourirt Kasbah. Then visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar known for its striking architecture and cinematic fame.

Cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering breathtaking views at every turn. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon and settle into your accommodation in the Red City.

Day 7: Discovering Magical Marrakech

Spend your final day exploring the colorful, chaotic, and captivating city of Marrakech. Stroll through the exotic Majorelle Garden, then discover the intricate design of the Bahia Palace and the historic Saadian Tombs.

Wander through the bustling Djemaa El Fna Square, where musicians, storytellers, snake charmers, and street food create a vibrant atmosphere.
