7-Day Sahara Expedition from Marrakech

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! Upon your arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, your driver will greet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Depending on your arrival time, dive straight into the city’s rhythm with a stroll through the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where storytellers, musicians, and food vendors fill the vibrant heart of Marrakech.

Spend your first night in a charming riad or hotel, preparing for the exciting journey ahead.

Day 2: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive across the High Atlas Mountains, winding through traditional Berber villages and stunning landscapes.

Stop at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a backdrop for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore its ancient mud-brick architecture and panoramic views.

Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visit the Cinema Museum and the Kasbah Taourirt before settling into your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – Agdz – Alnif – Merzouga

Begin your desert descent with a drive through Agdz, a peaceful town on the edge of the Draa Valley, where palm groves and kasbahs dot the landscape.

After lunch in Alnif or Rissani, continue through the ever-changing desert scenery to Merzouga.

Mount your camel and trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, witnessing a spectacular sunset over the Sahara.

Spend the night in a traditional Berber desert camp, enjoying music, stars, and dinner around the campfire.

Day 4: Merzouga Discovery & Berber Life

After breakfast, explore Merzouga’s surroundings. Visit a nearby oasis, and the village of Khamlia, where the local Gnaoua musicians perform spiritual rhythms rooted in West African tradition.

Take a walk through Rissani, home to a lively market and ancient kasbahs. Return to Merzouga for another camel trek through the dunes.

Spend another magical night in the Sahara under a blanket of stars, savoring Berber hospitality and a traditional dinner.

Day 5: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

Awake early to witness a mesmerizing desert sunrise, then ride camels back to Merzouga for breakfast and a refreshing shower.

Depart for Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and desert geology.

Journey on to Tinghir, where you’ll explore the towering Todra Gorges, with rock walls rising up to 300 meters.

In the afternoon, continue to the scenic Dades Valley, passing terraced fields, ochre cliffs, and quaint Berber villages. Overnight in a hotel tucked between the canyon walls.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast, journey through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura Oasis, dotted with thousands of palm trees and ancient kasbahs like Amridil.

Pass again through Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech.

Arrive in the late afternoon and settle into your hotel for your final evening in Morocco.

Day 7: Marrakech – Departure

Enjoy breakfast and a relaxed morning. Depending on your flight time, there may be time for a last stroll through the medina or a quick souvenir stop.

Your driver will transfer you to Marrakech Airport, concluding your unforgettable Moroccan journey.
